Island Acres is accessed off of what appears to be a frontage road. This is actually a portion of the original Highway 50. When the highway was moved to the south, to the old Rio Grande Railroad track's property, this small stretch of "old 50" and its two "twin" bridges, dated 1928 and 1929, was left behind. Visualize driving from Ocean City, MA to San Fransico, CA. in your Model A without leaving this highway. Notice that on our two bridges, current traffic cannot meet but must take turns crossing.
