Island Acres is owned by three couples: two Western grads and their parents. As natives of Michigan and Minnesota and Front Range transplants, we discovered Gunnison when we supported our childrens' decision to attend Western State. Let us put our Western experience to work for you.

As Western students, parents and alumni, we have:

• been supporters of the Mountaineer Athletic Association since 2000.
• participated in and attended countless athletic competitions and fund raisers.
• cheered on our two children, who as Western athletes earned eight national NCAA championship titles.
• attended the national NCAA Women of the Year banquet where of our owners, who is Western State's only Colorado NCAA Women of the Year, was a finalist for the title of National Women of the Year.

As owners of Island Acres, we have:

• worked closely with Western State administration, coaches, faculty and staff.
• a long, long list of Western students, parents and faculty who we count as friends; some who started with us as guests or employees.
• employed many Western students; working around their class, finals, training, and competition schedules.
• implemented a profit sharing plan, which encourages our employees to assure that you have a good visit while also benefiting them--again, many who are Western students
